I have the pleasure to have known Ed VanMaren for over the past 15 years. Initially we met when our kids were in school and we both were very actively involved in their cub scout and then boy scout activities, serving as den, pack and troop leaders. Needless to say, those times are filled with lots of great memories.

During that time, I came to understand Ed's handiwork and carpenter ability and also how he kept many of the University of Michigan fraternity properties in order - no small task I assure you. It was then that he often spoke of starting his own company and we strongly encouraged him to do so.

Once he took the leap, we quickly asked him to help us with some of our projects. We started with a simple kitchen repair and moved to mud room, garage and other build outs. With Ed's planning we then took on a full walkout deck which has become a feature of the neighborhood and seriously could be a showcase in Better Homes and Gardens. That was an outcome of weeks long effort preceded by months of planning. It truly is a great deck.

But the final showcase was the complete build out of our walk out basement. The layout was challenging but after many floor plans, Ed nailed it. The basement has a great storage area then beautifully moves into a game room, open living room area, family area and a full kitchen/bar area. His work is first rate, and being an engineer, i can honestly say there are no short cuts in his work.

We have shown both our deck and basement to others who have then hired Ed and used similar themes in their layouts and designs. Each always came back to say, "Man am I glad you made that intro, Ed is great" Ed's a straight shooter and I can personally say a great find for any of your home repair, remodeling or handiwork.
